Zubin Mehta returns to the Palau de la Música Catalana, and each of his visits is an event. The maestro, a living legend of conducting, leads the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra in a programme that celebrates the beauty and fullness of the symphonic repertoire. Beethoven’s Pastoral, one of the composer’s most evocative works, transports us to nature with music that flows with serenity and bursts of overwhelming joy. In the second half, Schubert’s Symphony No. 9, The Great, reveals all its grandeur, with sweeping melodies and irresistible rhythmic energy. An extraordinary evening with one of the most charismatic and beloved conductors of our time.
