Vespres d’Arnadí & Dani Espasa
—Il Mitridate Eupatore by Scarlatti (concert version)
The Palau Òpera cycle begins its fifth season with a rare gem of Italian Baroque: Alessandro Scarlatti’s Il Mitridate Eupatore, an opera of great expressive power and precise dramatic structure, presented at the Palau in concert version. This classical-inspired tragedy, based on the text by Girolamo Frigimelica Roberti, comes to life with a top-tier vocal cast: Marie Lys, Anna Devin, Ann Hallenberg, Sonja Runje, Paul-Antoine Bénos-Djian, and Josep-Ramon Olivé, conducted by Dani Espasa and brought to life by the vibrant and elegant sound of Vespres d’Arnadí. A unique opportunity to rediscover a rarely performed work that reveals the full theatrical and musical richness of 18th-century Neapolitan opera, in the ideal setting for its performance: the most beautiful concert hall in the world.
