Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 was his first symphony to be performed in Barcelona, ​​conducted by Pau Casals in 1924. It was also the first ever to include a single solo voice alongside the orchestra, a role which will be taken by the internationally renowned soprano Anna Prohaska on this occasion. The work will be performed by the Toronto Symphony Orchestra at the Palau de la Música Catalana as part of  their transoceanic tour under the baton of their principal conductor Gustavo Gimeno.

 

Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 2 will make up the first part of the concert. The orchestra will be accompanied by the pianist Bruce Liu, winner of the first prize at the International Frédéric Chopin Competition (2021).
