Following several memorable appearances at the Palau de la Música Catalana —his first in 2015 and most recently in 2022 with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra— Jan Lisiecki returns to the modernist hall with a solo recital that places dance at the heart of the piano repertoire. Featuring works by Martinů, Falla, Szymanowski, Schubert, Bartók, Ginastera, Chopin, Brahms, Piazzolla, and Albéniz, the Canadian pianist traces a musical journey that embraces traditions and geographies, from the refinement of the waltz to the blazing energy of the tango. With his polished technique and richly nuanced musicality, Lisiecki offers a personal take on this mosaic of rhythms and emotions. A vital and sophisticated programme that invites us to listen to dance with our eyes closed.
