Il Pomo d’Oro & Francesco Corti
—Giulio Cesare by Händel (concert version)
The Palau Òpera cycle comes to a close with one of the most acclaimed titles of Baroque opera: Handel’s Giulio Cesare, an opera of political intrigue, romantic passion, and dazzlingly virtuosic arias. Il Pomo d’Oro, a leading ensemble in this repertoire, presents a concert version full of contrasts and sonic brilliance under the direction of Francesco Corti. With a libretto by Nicola Francesco Haym, the work explores power and seduction as the core of a drama that Handel transforms into pure musical emotion. A finale to the Palau Òpera series that combines dramaturgical intelligence and artistic fullness.
