—‘Christmas Oratorio’
275 years since the death of J. S. Bach
Few works in the musical calendar have the power to move and uplift like Bach’s Christmas Oratorio. On this occasion, Cantatas 1, 2, 3 and 6 will resound in the Palau under the direction of tenor and Bach specialist Christoph Prégardien, leading the ensemble Il Gardellino and the Palau’s Chamber Choir. This new programme follows the acclaimed performance of the St Matthew Passion that Prégardien and the Choir presented in a collaboration especially praised by both audience and critics. Alison Lau, Martina Baroni, David Fischer and Micha Mattheus will complete the cast of this concert that gives musical form to the mystery, joy, and light of this season. A classic of the repertoire, performed with rigour, emotion, and a deeply spiritual vision.
