Chucho Valdés Royal Quartet
Cuba & Beyond
Viva, viva! Our godfather, Chucho Valdés, returns to the festival. In 2023 he introduced the first steps of his latest album, Cuba & Beyond, leading his Royal Quartet, a top-class ensemble with José Armando Gola on double bass and electric bass, Roberto Jr. Vizcaíno on percussion, and Horacio El Negro Hernández on drums. Two years later, Chucho’s musical flow remains the same: inexhaustible and almost boundless. Powerful music with unmistakable Afro-Cuban roots, placed within the great jazz tradition, with pieces as spectacular as Congablues, a soundtrack of a landscape that evokes both Santiago de Cuba and New Orleans.
Chucho returns to the Palau de la Música Catalana with his Royal Quartet. What a night awaits us.
