From the light and lyricism of Chopin’s 24 Preludes to the visionary subtlety of Skriabin’s Deux poèmes, the recital culminates in Mompou’s Variations sur un thème de Chopin—an intimate dialogue between the Catalan composer and his admired Polish master. Ventura approaches this triptych of complementary universes with a mature and nuanced perspective.
