CalendarThu 17 Dec 2026
Synopsis/Details

Christmas Concert: Romeo and Juliet

For a third consecutive year, the ADDA Simfònica Alacant and conductor Josep Vicent will celebrate their Christmas Concert, an essential event on the Barcelona musical calendar. The ADDA is one of Spain’s foremost orchestras and has a long history that includes a recent tour of Japan. Josep Vicent, who has worked with the orchestra for ten years, is also the principal conductor of the Argovia Philharmonic in Switzerland.

The concert will consist of three outstanding works that offer a musical journey dedicated to love: The fantasy overture Romeo and Juliet by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and the Suite from the ballet Romeo and Juliet by Sergei Prokofiev offer two visions of the Shakespearean classic; while Leonard Bernstein’s Symphonic Dances from West Side Story provide a modern, very emotional counterpoint.
